This guitar is one of our personal favorites, the Artist painted top combined with amazing tone from the pickups, really make it a standout instrument.
The wood work for this body was finished in the UK before being shipped to New York Artist Christopher Williams, who then worked his magic, what came back was this amazing distressed Union Flag design.
The body is made from a two piece meranti blank that has been bound with ivory purfling and has a Satin Polyurethane finish, which really compliments the style of the art.
Continuing with the wood, there is a heavily flamed maple neck with 12” radiused, 25.5” rosewood fretboard. Medium jumbo Jescar Evo Gold frets were chosen to compliment the brass hardware accents and the fret markers are made of brass and resin.
This combination of woods gives a good tonal contrast, with the brightness of the maple neck complimenting the warmth of the meranti and rosewood, giving an overall nicely balanced tone to the guitar.
From a hardware perspective, there is a Hallon 1/2 bridge made from cast and chromed 110 steel, with compensated phosphor bronze saddles, Grover Locking tuners and brass knobs and accents. The bridge and tuners make a real difference to the sustain and stability of the guitar.
The pickups were custom made for us by Sunbear pickups and consist of a firebird in the neck and one of their amazing PAFs in the bridge. Both of these have chrome open surrounds with a fine weave brass mesh. As always the Sunbears have amazing tonal clarity and this combination really works for us.
Carrying on with the electrics, it is loaded with 500k pots an Orange Drop capacitor and a momentary kill switch all wired up with vintage braided cable.
Amazing clean or throw some dirt at it and have amazing, machine gun like fun with that kill switch!
