I have recently taken receipt of a Maybury Fish Hook S Upscaler. The body is constructed of reclaimed spruce and has been dyed in a stunning teal shu sugi ban finish. The body is topped off with a striking translucent pink and white pick guard. The guitar neck is made of maple and has a rosewood fretboard. The guitar is visually stunning. I have been playing the guitar over the weekend and it plays like a dream. The mojo pickups and PAF humbuckers produce a great sound. Jason Snelling is the luthier who built the guitar. The guy is a master. Throughout the guitar build Jason kept in touch and sent me photos of the build in progress. I cannot thank Jason and Maybury Guitars enough. The guitar is a 60th birthday present for myself. I will treasure it.

Jason can make what is in your mind a reality
I was after a specific custom bass and after ringing what felt like ever luthier in the country, i finally spoke to Jason at Maybury. After i ran down to him what i was looking for and after a moment of deep thought on his part one word made me use him, the word was “Yes”.
What he made for me was exactly what i had in mind when i first envisioned the instrument. He fully involved me in the construction process at every step of the way. He accommodated every request i had, despite one or two being seemingly odd, and consulted me on every detail of her construction. I can’t say enough or give him enough praise as to how he took my design and construction requests and understood what i was wanting, it was almost as though he saw my vision exactly as i did. Now i have a custom 5 string bass that almost makes me weep with joyful gratitude. The finished product is every bit as good as i hoped she would be and Jason, thank you for being the one to bring what was once a fantasy to life. To anybody whom may be on the fence about pulling the trigger regarding a custom guitar, get on the phone to Maybury and ask for Jason, i promise you that you will not be disappointed.

Upscaler review - lovely instrument!
Jason built me an Upscaler to my requirement; S-type Fishhook, twin P-90s, locking tuners, red shoi sugi ban finish.
I picked it up from Maybury HQ; Jason made me feel very welcome and we basically talked guitars for an hour. I was invited to play other guitars through his great selection of amps. Lovely guy.
The guitar he built for me is excellent and so so playable to the extent that I never want to put it down - it's resonant and feels alive. At time of writing I've gigged it twice and it sounds great; tonally flexible (the Black Dove pickups work so well), and really punchy when needed.

AFTER BEING UNABLE TO FIND WHAT I WAS LOOKING FOR FROM OTHER BRANDS…
After being unable to find what I was looking for from other brands…I decided that a custom built guitar was my best option and discovery Maybury guitars online. Jason worked with me to come up with a design that was within my budget and had all of the features that I was looking for. Being someone with limited technical knowledge of guitar parts, Jason provided me with excellent advise on which parts to go for in order to maximize my budget for the best build. The handmade neck on the guitar was made to my exact specifications, has an increadibly smooth finish and looks fantastic.
